CINETOPIA CINEMA CIRCUS KICK OFF BEGINS TONIGHT!


Cinetopia’s “Cinema Circus” events bring free outdoor film screenings to Detroit area neighborhoods

Free performances and family friendly films

Detroit, MI – The fourth Cinetopia International Film Festival officially starts on Friday, but the first in the festival’s free outdoor Cinema Circus events takes place tonight at New Center Park, kicking off their Wednesday Night Film Series.

Starting at 8 PM with a performance by Detroit Flyhouse circus performers, the evening continues with a screening of the comedy “Detroit Unleaded,” with the film’s director Rola Nashef in attendance to discuss the film and answer questions from the audience.

Bring your own chairs and blankets to enjoy a free night of entertainment under the stars. New Center Park is located at the southwest corner of Second Ave. and West Grand Blvd, across from the Fisher Building.

The next in the Cinema Circus series are:

Tuesday, June 9: the beautiful documentary “Koyaanisqatsi” at Hyperion Coffee Company in Ypsilanti;

Wednesday, June 10: a Michael Jackson Sing-along at Campus Martius Park, 800 Woodward Ave., Detroit;

Friday, June 12: biopic “Selena” at the Ford Resource and Engagement Center at 2826 Bagley Ave., Detroit;

Saturday, July 18: the classic “Wizard of Oz” at the Ford Resource and Engagement Center at 2826 Bagley Ave., Detroit;

Saturday, August 15 : the family comedy “Sandlot” at Balduck Park, on Detroit’s East Side at Canyon Rd. between Chandler Park Drive and E. Warren Ave. (in partnership with the Friends of the Alger Theatre’s annual “Film on the Hill” event)

Saturday, August 22: Dr. Suess’s animated story “Horton Hears a Who” at the Ford Resource and Engagement Center at 2826 Bagley Ave., Detroit;
