THE JONES NEW RELEASE: BRASS KNUCKLE BELT BUCKLE!

Just got this lp tonight and have to say...I can't stop playing it! It has bite and soul together which is quite rare these days....Have a read and BUY THEIR RECORD! xoK

The Jones is a Detroit based rock and roll band. Oversimplified? Perhaps, but the essence of The Jones and why they are quickly becoming noticed is in that statement, and it is simply that they are indeed, a rock and ROLL band. Not just a ‘rock band’ as that definition has become far too vast in scope, but instead a true believer in the, groove-heavy rock and roll of the genres golden age.

Not one of a myriad of sub-genres that have splintered off the original bliss that WAS rock and roll, but a true black and blue rock and roll band that is held up by the bones of classic rock pillars such as The Yardbirds,The Rolling Stones, Black Crowes and now by torch-bearers like Rival Sons and Greta Van Fleet.

COOL!

The Jones was birthed from the dark hiatus forced upon Detroit band Bazooka Jones, whose tongue-in-cheek delivery of their own brand of dirty, punker-pop had critics comparing them to The Cramps and The Knack.

When Bazooka Jones had to call a time out due to bass player Killer Clyde Varneys illness, guitarist/songwriter Chris Jones looked for an outlet and way to release built up steam and began to write. “I had a strong desire to lose myself in the type of rock and roll that initially addicted me to the genre. I soaked in
1971-1973 for a bit, and started sketching. Organically. Quickly. Not giving it too much thought about what was ‘in’ at the moment. I’ve never cared for the latest fashion and wasn’t going to start now.”

He was joined by Bill Henrickson, premier, Detroit area drummer and the result would become The Jones.

Their debut album ‘Brass Knuckle Belt Buckle’ is a twelve pack of groove loaded rock and roll that reminds us that true rock doesn’t care about the flavor of the day, but instead holds fast to its blues and funk roots. Crunchy guitar, attitude and hooks that could lift a tank. “It was really tiring of all the over-thinking that was happening in rock today.

C’mon people, it’s only rock and roll, it’s not that difficult to grasp really....groove/hooks/attitude.

The recipe could all fit in a fairly small tattoo. Plug it in, make it happen” says Jones. The album was completed and began getting notice even before it’s release. “Somehow a couple of the per-release copies got out and the next thing I know people are telling me they heard it on the radio, getting played on Detroit's WDET and WHFR and snagging the number one spot on Radio Indie Alliance.”

Synch licensing for an upcoming tv show and midwest tour dates are in the works.

THE ROMANTICS' MIKE SKILL TO RELEASE SOLO SINGLE

The Romantics Guitarist/Vocalist/Songwriter Michael Skill To Release New Solo Single “67 Riot”

New song evokes time when Detroit burned during“Summer of Love”

Detroit - From the man who crafted such hit singles as “What I Like About You,” “Talking in Your Sleep,” and “One In A Million,” comes a new gritty blues-rock single about the riots that forever changed his hometown of Detroit in 1967. Michael Skill, who has played both bass and guitar for the power-pop rock 'n' roll band The Romantics, was a budding teenager in 1967 when five days of racially charged riots tore apart Detroit in July. When it was over, 43 people lay dead, 1,189 had been injured, more than 7,200 had been arrested and more than 2,000 buildings had been destroyed.

Skill lived on Detroit's East Side and says that although the violence took place several miles from his home, he nonetheless saw its effects up close. “I remember the National Guard right down the street from my house,” he says. “People watching the riots on TV were afraid that rioters would come into our neighborhood. People were freaked out.” The riots changed his beloved Motor City forever. “A lot of my friends' families took off for the suburbs after that,” he says, noting his family chose to stay in the city.

The riot's effects – and the fact that many of the issues they raised, from police brutality to economic decay – stayed with Skill, culminating in his desire to write “67 Riot.” Loud, powerful and evocative of tough tunes by such rockers as Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix and Skill's fellow Detroit rockers, The MC 5, “67 Riot” is both a haunting look at the past as well as a timely allusion to the present, in a world where racial and social tension still threaten to rend our nation in two.

“I wrote the song from a sense of frustration that people never came together after the riots to really address what happened, to look each other in the eye and say, 'How can we repair this? How can we move forward?'” The song's lyrics are written from this point of view. “4 AM/Down the street/Cops roll in/With all the heat/Blind pig roaring/Kickin' their heels/Soldiers home/Just gettin' real,” the song opens. “Rooftop sniper/Set the sight/Burning cocktails/Flash in flight/Broken city/Broken dreams/Things aren't always what they seem/67 Riot!”

Recorded in Skill's own studio, the song features him on guitar, bass and vocals, and also features drummer Russell Ayers, who engineered the tune. The co-producers sought to create an aural equivalent of what it was like to live through this violent time, Skill says, but he adds that he wanted the song to end on a note of hope because Detroit has rebounded in recent years.

“Try to warm your heart/Dream your dreams/Break the chain/Let's start clean,” he adds in his song, noting it’s time to break the chain of racism that has shackled generations before, during and after “67 Riot.”

The Romantics are still touring, still recording and currently feature 3 original band members on the front line up, Rich Cole, Wally Palmar and co-founder Michael Skill. Drummer Brad Elvis joined The Romantics in 2004 and has been the longest seated drummer with the band. Rich Cole rejoined the band in 2010, reviving the band's 3-part harmony allowing The Romantics to perform songs from their first two albums live for the first time since his departure.

GUITARIST GARY HOEY AT CALLAHANS JULY 17

Auburn Hills, MI. – One of the top 100 guitarists of all time! The world-renowned rocker and guitar aficionado takes on the Blues with his latest album, Deja Blues! Gary will also be performing songs from his latest release, “Deja Blues,” available now on Wazoo Music Group. “This is an album of original blues songs I’ve wanted to record for a long time.

The Blues has always been near and dear to my heart. I have so much respect for it. When I’m recording a blues song, it’s a 5 minute journey and you can’t take a breath, you can’t keep punching in the recording button to fix stuff or it loses the vibe.”

At sixteen, Hoey often lingered outside Boston's renowned Berklee College of Music making friends and offering to pay for lessons. To devote more of his time to music, the prodigy would cut high school classes so that he could hone his guitar playing skills all the while playing Boston's local clubs and teaching guitar to avoid a day job and keep the guitar in his hand

Hoey’s first break came in 1987 when Ozzy Osbourne showed up in Boston looking for a guitarist. Osborne liked Hoey’s tape enough to fly him to LA for an audition. The gig went to Zakk Wylde but Ozzy suggested Hoey move to LA seeing his talent. He took Ozzy's advice and with $17,000 he saved from teaching Hoey loaded the U-Haul and drove across country to LA. In 1992 Hoey released "Heavy Bones" on Warner Bros. a rock vocal album with Frankie Banali on drums from Quiet Riot.

Heavy Bones got caught in the grunge backlash and the album went unnoticed with a million dollar debt after album cost, promotion and video the band got dropped. 1993 Hoey asked Warner Bros. if he could record a low budget album for fun of instrumental rock. He recorded the successful "Animal Instinct" album ($15,000 budget) which included a cover of the Focus hit, "Hocus Pocus".

Not only did the hit rocket into the Billboard Top 5, outpacing all other singles as the most frequently played rock song of the year, but the album went on to reach classic rock notoriety. With a collection of 19 albums it's no wonder Gary Hoey is listed as one of the top 100 guitarists of all time.

1994 Hoey scored the successful “Endless Summer II” soundtrack and had another radio hit with War's "Low Rider." Other film clients have included Walt Disney films, ESPN, New Line Cinema, scoring the music to "California Screaming" (Disney Roller Coaster), as well as songs placed in movies such as "Office Space," "Deck the Halls” (Danny Devito), and Beethoven III.

Recently, Hoey produced and co-wrote The Queen Of Metal Lita Ford’s latest release “Living Like Runaway” for SPV records to rave reviews. “It was a thrill to work with Lita… She is a true rocker and a pioneer for woman in rock. And lastly, she’s a kick ass guitar player”.

To this day the guitar aficionado continues to tour extensively, endorsing Fender guitars and Amp, Monster cable, GHS Strings, Rocktron to name a few. He has been involved with the Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp as music director to include his stint at “Campalooza 2013 in NYC jammin' with legends like shred-maestro Yngwie Malmsteen, blues icon Johnny Winter, Robben Ford, the time-honored rocker Leslie West of Mountain and co-founding member of KISS Peter Criss.

Hoey has toured and traded licks with the likes of Jeff Beck, Brian May of Queen, Joe Bonamassa, Ted Nugent, Joe Satriani, The Doobie Brothers, Foreigner, Styx, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Peter Frampton, and Dick Dale.

...and THE TRUTH will set you free... OUT NOW!

London, UK - Guitar virtuoso David Kilminster, best known for his work with Roger Waters and Keith Emerson, is preparing to release an exciting new rock album titled '...and THE TRUTH will set you free...'! This incredible project sees Dave reunited with drummer Pete Riley and bassist Phil Williams who toured with Dave as part of the Keith Emerson Band, and also recorded with Dave on his first solo rock album 'Scarlet - The Director's Cut'.

Says Dave about his new CD, “I returned from THE WALL tour, both exhausted and exhilarated, and ready to direct all of that inspiration, passion and creativity into a new project.
