BLACK FLAG:VICTIMOLOGY NORTH AMERICAN TOUR 2014

BLACK FLAG
VICTIMOLOGY NORTH AMERICAN TOUR 2014
Band returns to the road with new vocalist Mike Vallely.

Taylor, TX March 18, 2014 — BLACK FLAG has announced a spring / summer tour of North America entitled the VICTIMOLOGY TOUR. The tour kicks off on May 15 in Midland, Texas and includes dates in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, New York, Toronto as well as an appearance at the Amnesia Rockfest Music Festival in Montebello, Quebec, Canada on June 20th.

The VICTIMOLOGY TOUR will feature new vocalist Mike Vallely joining the band for the first time since performing with them at the 2003 Benefit Shows at the Hollywood Palladium. Vallely is the fifth vocalist in the band’s 38 years of existence and according to founding member, guitarist, primary songwriter and sole continuous member Greg Ginn, Vallely “is the perfect frontman to capture what Black Flag was, is and will be.”

Vallely affirms, “I’m excited about performing songs from the entire Black Flag catalog. I feel confident in my ability to communicate the songs — To give them their due respect and yet still make them my own. Ginn’s songwriting is truly timeless and it gives all of the material relevance right here, right now.”

LEGENDARY DRUMMER SCOTT ASHETON DIED

Our first thought tonight when the sad news came in about Scott Asheton passing was how is Big Rich handling this? Poor Big, lost his hero Gary Grimshaw recently and Rock Asheton too....Hugs to Big...we are thinking of you tonight....

I was pal'in' around with Scott Asheton, drinkin' lots of STROHS and runnin' around... all over town. We had a HELL of a lot of fun. ROCK ACTION! Big Rich Dorris

Scott was a really down to earth guy, great with kids, loved fishing and being in the nature of Michigan.

Stanley T. Madhatter carried this worn Rock Asheton business card around in his wallet forever...I pried it away from him so I could scan it....Had to give it right back!

Dennis "Machinegun" Thompson was a very close friend of Scott's and he had this to say...

"He was a close brother of mine..we always hung out together at the fun house and he showed thousands of young drummers how rock n roll drumming should be played..hard, strong and simple..to me he is a high caliber classic drummer and I mean that. I'm gonna miss you Scottie...Our thoughts and prayers go out to Liz, Leanna, Kathy and the fans...

Scott "Rock Action" Asheton (August 16, 1949 – March 15, 2014) was an American musician, best known as the drummer for the rock band the Stooges. Other than Iggy Pop, Asheton was the only consistent member of the Stooges after the death of his brother, guitarist Ron Asheton, in 2009.

He was born in Washington, D.C. and moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan with his family at the age of 14.

Asheton co-formed the Stooges in 1967 along with his older brother Ron, Pop, and Dave Alexander. The original incarnation released two LPs on Elektra Records before moving through several lineup changes, releasing a third LP on Columbia Records in 1973 and disbanding the following year.

During the Stooges' separation he was among the few ex-members to play again with Pop, occurring during a 1978 European tour Asheton also played drums with Scott Morgan in different bands, among which were the Scott Morgan Band, Scots Pirates, and most notably Sonic's Rendezvous Band. He then went on to play drums touring in a late incarnation of Destroy All Monsters, under the name Dark Carnival.

He also recorded extensively with Sonny Vincent, playing drums on four full studio albums along with Captain Sensible on bass, as well as making special guest appearances on other Vincent releases. In addition to recording with Sonny, Asheton has toured the U.S. and Europe with Sonny and Steve Baise (on bass) of the Devil Dogs.

The Stooges reformed in 2003, and have remained active ever since, releasing a fourth album in 2007. Following the death of Ron Asheton, the group worked with later guitarist James Williamson.

After the Hellfest Festival show of June 17, 2011, in France, he suffered a severe stroke that caused his temporary retirement from live duty and was replaced by Larry Mullins (aka Toby Dammit) who had already played in Iggy Pop's band in the 90s

My dear friend Scott Asheton passed away last night.

Scott was a great artist, I have never heard anyone play the drums with more meaning than Scott Asheton. He was like my brother. He and Ron have left a huge legacy to the world. The Asheton’s have always been and continue to be a second family to me.

My thoughts are with his sister Kathy, his wife Liz and his daughter Leanna, who was the light of his life. IGGY POP

THE ROCK AND ROLL LAWYER SHOW -- CHERI CLAIR'S OTHER OTHER OTHER JOB

I've been representing Sheldon Kay and his radio show for several years now and I feel like I've know him forever. Our relationship is nearly telekinetic. I try to anticipate his needs... or help him find the words he's looking for... or sometimes we just look at each other and know what we're thinking. It's an ideal business relationship because nothing is more important than communication.

The Rock and Roll Lawyer Show, which celebrates the rockabilly, roots, and other various musical realms, airs every Friday at 6 PM EST on WCXI 1160-AM -- which can be heard on terrestial radio in some areas and streaming worldwide using www.tunein.com or the TuneIn App for mobile devices.

Sheldon Kay is really a lawyer and he's gotta work sometime....

One of my favorite parts of working with the radio show is chatting with listeners in our facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/rockandrolllawyer.

I look forward to meeting lots of new listeners!

Cheri Clair is the Creative Director and Publicist for Sheldon Kay, The Rock and Roll Lawyer... in addition to being a contributing editor here, booking bands and doing promotion.

Episodes of one season of Cheri's own radio show with her husband, 'The Shagg & Cheri Radio Blast', can be heard at  www.mixcloud.com/cheridetroit

THE MUDDY BROTHERS BLUES BAND FROM BRAZIL

The Muddy Brothers are a Brazilian band, from Vila Velha (ES), formed by the end of 2012. Their basic influences are the blues man from the North-American Delta and the rocknroll sound of the 70’s.

As a trio the band members are João Lucas (Vocals), Will Just (Guitars) and Renato Just (Drums). In November 2013, the band released their first full album, Handmade, recorded and produced by themselves in a totally independent environment.

Recently, they won the “Rock on Top” contest that featured over 300 bands from all over Brazil, that gave the band the opportunity to be an opening band at The Planeta Terra
Festival.

We also served as an opening act for names like Beck, Blur, Lana Del Rey, The Roots, Travis and others.

The Muddy Brothers was formed and breathes through their member's passion for the American Bluesmen that changed the world banging their feet on the floor and scratching their guitars, The Muddy Brothers are trying something like that. Only with a lot of drive and Fuzz.
