POPA CHUBBY NEW LP "I'M FEELIN LUCKY" AND TOUR!

Los Angeles, CA - Larger than life blues figure Popa Chubby has a lot of reasons to feel lucky this year. 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of his emergence as a powerful force in the venerable New York blues scene with his very own band, and his own unique brand of hard hitting, face melting, blues rock n’ funky soul. And he’ll celebrate this major milestone the only way he knows how, with the release of a smokin’ hot studio album I’m Feelin’ Lucky - coming October 14 on Cleopatra Records - and a series of shows on the West Coast!

“It’s been 25 years and I’m still standing,” declares Popa Chubby, and considering the long and rugged road he’s had to travel, that in itself is a miracle. From his beginning in the late ‘70s as a “bad kid with an afro and a brand new Gibson Midnight Special guitar” to his stint as a punk rock sideman for Screaming Mad George and Richard Hell, among others, to signing a deal with Sony and releasing one of the top selling blues albums of 1994 (the phenomenal Booty And The Beast), Popa Chubby has seen it all and lived to tell about it on well over a dozen studio albums!

His newest effort I’m Feelin’ Lucky gave the veteran musician an opportunity to reflect on his extraordinary career and to work on new musical ideas and arrangements in a relaxed, low-pressure setting. Recording at his home studio in the Hudson Valley, Popa called on some of his closest associates to help bring this album to life, including drummer Chris Reddan, keyboardist Dave Keyes, and bassist Francesco Beccaro. In addition, two very special guests brought even more magic to the proceedings, vocalist Dana Fuchs, mostly known for her role in the 2007 Beatles musical Across The Universe, as well as one of the most revered blues players around today, Mike Zito of the Royal Southern Brotherhood.

I’m Feelin’ Lucky is Popa’s debut album for Cleopatra and contains some of his best and most deeply felt writing. “The Way It Is” is an “urban soul ballad,” he explains, “that’s about those times when you just sit there and you realize that you’re all messed up and there ain’t nothing you can do about it...that’s the blues right there.” The title track is a major slice of “badass funk” with heavy wah wah pedal guitar playing from Popa and “great New Orleans style lyrics.” “I’m A Pitbull (Nothin’ But Love)” may be the song closest to his heart: “I’m a big dog lover. I have a little pitbull and I love him dearly. They’re a very misunderstood breed. I work with people at a pitbull rescue who work with these dogs and train them to be service dogs for veterans coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s a beautiful thing. There is not a more loyal, devoted and emotionally intuitive dog.” It’s these very same qualities in Popa Chubby’s own gracious persona that have been drawing fans to his music for over 2 decades.

Fans will also delight in hearing that Popa Chubby’s Universal Breakdown Tour hits the West Coast later this year with a slew of shows starting in Las Vegas at the Big Blues Bender held in the Riviera Hotel & Casino. JIMI: ALL IS BY MY SIDE: NEW HENDRIX FILM!

As the film -- starring Andre Benjamin (Outkast) -- shows, musicians in London in the late ’60s were constantly soaking up each other’s songs and influences. In the film, Hendrix goes from blues songs to jumping on stage with Eric Clapton’s band Cream.

The dynamism of the era is exemplified at the climax of the film, when Hendrix rushes into the dressing room before that pivotal show at the Saville Theater in London with a copy of the latest Beatles record, released two days prior and tells his band to start rehearsing the title track, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” knowing that Paul McCartney and George Harrison are in the audience that night. In this playlist, hear Hendrix covering songs by Chuck Berry, Albert King, Van Morrison’s earlier band called Them, The Troggs, Big Mama Thornton, The Beatles, and Bob Dylan.

GURU GURU & DIE KRUPPS MASTERMINDS LAUNCH KRAUTROCK MOTHERSHIP!

Los Angeles, CA - Climb aboard the Mothership for one of the wildest rides into the outer reaches of experimental music! Landing September 2, Mothership is the debut album from Guru Freakout, the thoroughly avant garde side project created by percussionist, singer, and frontman of the legendary Krautrock band Guru Guru, Mani Neumeier, along with über talented multi-instrumentalist/producer Jürgen Engler of German industrial band Die Krupps. With the help of bassist Scott Telles (ST 37), these two captains of the Far Out ride hypnotic, free-floating stoner rock grooves drenched in alien guitar fuzz on two epically long jams, the 30+ minute “Notre Dame (Mothership)” and the extended vinyl side-long aural hallucination “The Snows Of Mt. Bonnell,” that will have audiences shouting “Take me to your leader!”

Engler tells the story of Guru Freakout’s origin:

Mani is an old friend of mine. Near the end of 2012, he came to visit me in Austin where I had organized a show for him to play. We also planned to do some recording for a follow up project to Cosmic Couriers Other Places, which was released on Cleopatra in the ‘90s. At the same time I was working with bass player Scott Telles of ST 37, and when Scott heard that Mani was in town, he wanted to meet him since he had always been a big fan of Guru Guru. So the three of us got together at his rehearsal studio and started jamming right away. We had a great chemistry, so we decided to record a few tracks with a little digital recorder, and also at Ohm Recording Studio. When we listened to the tracks later, we realized that we had some really good material that should see the light of day, and so those recordings became the Guru Freakout album.

The music is built around Mani’s relentless weaving drums. The guitar - psychedelic, atonal, bluesy and aggressive. At the same time, the bass - thunderous, Lemmy-sounding, with the energy of Peter Hook. All these elements combined to make for a very unique psychedelic experience...It’s Guru Freakout time!

Fans of Guru Guru and experimental, improvised music will not want to miss this very special album. The CD version includes exciting bonus tracks of rehearsal recordings that give an early peak into the makings of one of the most adventurous musical collaborations in recent memory!

2. The Snows Of Mt. Bonnell

SONNY VINCENT & SPITE

http://www.angelfire.com/ny/punkrocknroll/spiteful/

Sonny Vincent - Testors - Vocals and Guitar
Rat Scabies - The Damned - Drums
Glen Matlock - Sex Pistols-Bass
Steve Mackay - Stooges-Sax

Badassed line up, huh? But it didn’t come together by design. No, folks, it sure as heck didn’t. Well… even though I have a ton of stuff to do today, I am obligated to tell the story of this album before the Illuminati get ahold of it and rewrite history to suit their plans. (I understand they dance to my song, “I See”, at their meetings and picnics. Apparently, it’s a horrible sight of angular frenetic dancing with grimaced faces and clenched fists.)

http://www.angelfire.com/ny/punkrocknroll/spiteful/

This album was three years in the making and it all started with a phone call from Herman Verbelen. I have some friends in Belgium, notably Herman, Isabelle, and Ronny. Growing up in Brussels, they were Punk Rock/Garage fans and later followed their maniacal interests by booking bands, promoting shows, and supporting every scroungy passion powered band that came around. Everyone has crashed at their place and enjoyed a gigantic American-style breakfast (in Belgium, nice!).FULL STORY HERE

HEAR JOHNNY WINTER'S FIRST SONG RELEASED FROM STEP BACK LP

Hear the first song released from Johnny’s final studio album Step Back, out September 2.

Ben Harper on Johnny Winter, for Rolling Stone:

"The blues means everything to me, and Johnny Winter meant everything to the blues. There is not one note, lick or riff I will ever play that doesn't owe an unpayable debt to Johnny Winter. I play the way I play because I couldn't play like Johnny Winter.

"While simultaneously breaking musical and cultural barriers, he was one of the ordained architects who went on to define the blues not only for generations, but for an entire genre. As an artist, he played and sang with a rare and unparalleled urgency and sincerity that requires musicians of all stature to listen and learn. As a producer, Johnny Winter was the gatekeeper whom Muddy Waters entrusted to further his own sound. That says it all.

"Johnny Winter was the gospel truth, one of the rare and hallowed musical pillars of the blues. Tonight I'm gonna play Johnny Winter real loud in my house, then try to cop a lick or two of his and once again wonder, 'How on Earth did he play that!?

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART GUITARIST ZOOT HORN ROLLO NEW RELEASE!

Capt. Beefheart Guitar Legend Zoot Horn Rollo Releases Four New Digital Only Tracks!

Asheville, NC - Much to the excitement of guitarists worldwide, guitar icon Zoot Horn Rollo (Bill Harkleroad), best known for his work with Capt. Beefheart's Magic Band, has made four new tracks, 'The Mask Tracks', available for the first time since the release of his critically acclaimed CD “We Saw a Bozo Under the Sea” in 2001.

“These four pieces are the musical representation of masks that my friend Roger Evers created. Therefore, the titles are simply the images of these incredible masks.” - Zoot Horn Rollo

The other players who made this happen:
Mark Schneider: Bass
Jason Palmer: Drums
Sergei Teleshev: Accordion
Brian McWhorter: Trumpet

Check out samples of the tracks on Zoot Horn Rollo's music page. You can also purchase them in the store.http://zoothornrollo.com/music

Rolling Stone Senior Editor David Fricke published a list of The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, with Zoot Horn Rollo outranking Eddie Van Halen, Johnny Winter, Mick Ronson, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Link Wray, Neil Young, Danny Gatton and dozens more.

Bill Harkleroad joined Captain Beefheart's Magic Band at a time when they were changing from a straight ahead blues band into something completely different. Through the vision of Don Van Vliet (Captain Beefheart) they created a new form of music, which many at the time considered atonal and difficult, yet over the years has continued to exert a powerful influence!

Beefheart re-christened Harkleroad as Zoot Horn Rollo, and they embarked on recording one of the classic albums of all time, 'Trout Mask Replica'; produced by legendary Frank Zappa, the album remains an unparalleled work of musical inventiveness. Further LPs like 'Lick My Decals Off Baby', 'Spotlight Kid' and 'Clear Spot' highlighted what a truly innovative band they were, and what an outstanding original guitarist Bill Harkleroad had become!

Says Tom Wheeler, Former Editor in Chief, Guitar Player Magazine, “The music Bill Harkleroad has created in recent years somehow evokes the earthiness and passion that made rock and roll so sensual in, say, 1956, and made surf music so irresistibly catchy in 1963, and turned 3-chord country standards into some of the most heartbreaking poetry ever to seep out of a roadhouse jukebox. His music would never be mistaken for vintage rock or surf or country, but it shares a soul connection with those styles, even while, like the music of Jimi Hendrix, it takes us not only to new places but to places we didn’t even know existed.”

Also available! 'Lunar Notes – Zoot Horn Rollo's Captain Beefheart Experience' book:

BADFINGER'S JOEY MOLLAND 2 NEW RELEASES!!

London, UK – On the heels of his critically acclaimed new solo album 'Return To Memphis', Badfinger legend Joey Molland has released two hard to find, sought after albums on UK's Gonzo Multimedia - 'Demos Old And New' and 'This Way Up'!

Signed to the Beatles' Apple label in 1968 as The Iveys, the band quickly changed their name to Badfinger by 1969. The group would go on to score four consecutive worldwide hits from 1970 to 1972: “Come And Get It” (written and produced by Paul McCartney), “No Matter What”, “Day After Day” and “Baby Blue”.

In 1971, a cover of the Badfinger song “Without You” by Harry Nilsson became a number one hit on the Billboard charts. Though the band suffered major tragedies throughout its career, surviving member Joey Molland has continued to keep the Badfinger flame alight through concerts and recordings over the past 30 years. And now he is back with a fantastic new album 'Return To Memphis', which was produced by Carl 'Blue' Wise and recorded at Willie Mitchell's Royal Studios in Memphis.

This collection of demos from various parts of his long career only proves to confirm what an extraordinary songwriter Joey Molland is.

Tracks:
1. I Said It's Alright '92
2. Borderline '84
3. Birdsong '92
4. Cadillac Blues '88
5. Can't Stop '84
6. Clouds of Love '80
7. Isn't That A Dream '95
8. It's True '88
9. Mirrors '95
10. Miss Misunderstood '72
11. Moonlight
12. Panning Gold '82
13. Sometimes
14. Walkin' The Floor '83
15. What You're Doin '73
16. When '80
17. Miss Misunderstood

In 2001, Joey Molland released the critically acclaimed album 'This Way Up' independently. CD Universe describes the album as: “…one of the best solo discs that ex-members of the Beatles never made. It bears repeating - 'This Way Up' contains the essence of what was great about those early solo Beatles albums, not surprising because Molland played on some of them. The surprise is that a sideman from those sessions has created a mini-masterpiece rivaling, and on some songs equaling, those classic and important recordings. 13 perfectly constructed songs by Molland do more than just carry on a tradition - they combine to give proof that this style of music is still so very vital.”

Tracks:
1. Mirrors
2. Happy
3. A Way To Be
4. The Bust
5. This Must Be Love
6. Moonlight
7. Another Honeymoon
8. When I Was A Boy
9. Angels Like Us
10. What Else (Nothing)
11. Tell Me
12. 2 Minute Warning
13. Isn't That A Dream

Joey's latest CD 'Return To Memphis' has been garnering major press worldwide and follows the major buzz surrounding the Badfinger track “Baby Blue” being played during the finale of A&E's hit TV series 'Breaking Bad'.

Says Joey, “I did the record in Memphis and so it's called 'Return To Memphis'. I started out loving Memphis music...Elvis and all that. A lot of great rockers came from there. So I opted to go down there and make a record and it was a great experience.”

Originally from Liverpool, Joey now resides in the US, where he continues to perform with Joey Molland's Badfinger. Along with Joey on guitar and vocals, the current lineup features Mark Healey (bass/vocals), Steve Wozny (keyboards/vocals), Mike Ricciardi (drums). GUITAR VIRTUOSO MARTY WALSH RELEASES STAR STUDDED NEW CD!

Guitar Virtuoso and Former Supertramp Member Marty Walsh Releases New CD Featuring Guest Appearances By Members of YES, Rufus and a Host of LA Studio Legends

Boston, MA – Much to the excitement of guitar aficionados across the globe, celebrated guitarist Marty Walsh released his eagerly awaited debut instrumental solo album 'The Total Plan' on June 16th 2014! Making the release even more thrilling is the array of guest artists appearing on the release – Billy Sherwood (YES/CIRCA:), John “JR” Robinson (Rufus, Eric Clapton, Mike Oldfield/Steve Winwood) and a multitude of LA Studio Legends.

Says Marty, “Everyone on the album are musicians that I have close personal and working relationships with. Billy and I did an album that was released in 1996 under the band name The Key. People like John Robinson, Abe Laboriel, Michael Ruff and everyone else on the album I have worked with for years. When I came up with this idea I asked all of these wonderful musicians if they would play on one track for me. Graciously they all accepted.”

Marty Walsh is an assistant professor in the Ensemble and Music Production departments at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. A veteran of the LA studio music scene, he has worked as a guitarist with some of the biggest names in the business. The early 1980s found him on the hits “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton, “She Works Hard For The Money” by Donna Summer, and “Heartlight” by Neil Diamond, to name a few.

He also recorded with John Denver, Eddie Money, Kenny Rogers, Sheena Easton, and Julio Iglesias, among others. In 1985, Marty played guitar on the Supertramp album 'Brother Where You Bound' and then toured with the band in 1985-86 and again in 1988 after playing on their 1988 release 'Free As A Bird'.

Continuing to do recording sessions into the 1990s, he also was a part of the live band on the Nickelodeon Television show 'Roundhouse' which was critically acclaimed and ran from 1992 through 1994. In the late 90's Marty played guitar on numerous Curb Records releases including three of Leann Rimes' albums, 'Sittin On Top Of The World', 'Leann Rimes' and 'I Need You', whose title track set the record for weeks (54) in the top 40.

Most recently, he can be heard on the Freddie Jackson single “Until The End Of Time”, which reached the number 1 spot on Billboard's R&B charts and stayed on the charts for 26 weeks. And now much to the anticipation of guitarists and musicians everywhere, Marty is releasing his first (instrumental) solo album 'The Total Plan'!

Says Marty, “Being an instrumental album it is simply about the music. There are a few things conceptually that I was trying to achieve with this recording though. The first being the fact that I wanted to make an album of music that I felt would appeal to the masses. The album is not a Jazz album necessarily, it's really more of a pop record. While there are improvised solos, the focus of the record is much more about the melodies and arrangements of the songs, which hopefully are memorable.

The second thing that I wanted to achieve was making a record with many of the people that I've worked with over the years. I literally enlisted musicians for this project that I had worked with closely going way back to when I first started touring and doing recording sessions, and then also tapped into some of the faculty and also young musicians that I have worked closely with at the Berklee college of music.

There are ten songs on the album and each song has different groupings of personnel. I also feel that stylistically the album is quite diverse, which actually came about from tapping into all of these various musicians who brought their own identity to the project.”

Marty's new album showcases a variety of styles, which is a reflection of his vast musical influences. He explains, “While I am primarily a guitarist, and my guitar playing is the focus of the record, I don't feel like my approach to the instrument is like a lot of other guitarists. As a young musician growing up, of course I was influenced by people like Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix, but then growing up in Los Angeles, guys like Larry Carlton, Jay Graydon, and all of the other LA studio guitar players that I had so much respect for certainly were extremely influential in my development.

But even more influential than all of the great guitar players are a host of other musicians. I have always had the tendency not to focus on guitar players and their approach to the instrument. Music that has influenced me over the years has tended to be from piano players, songwriters, people that compose memorable music and also many of the great producer/arrangers that I have worked with.

Guys like Michael Omartian, the late Michel Columbier, and the late Tom Dowd. I had the good fortune to actually work with these people closely in the recording environment and learned so much about composing and arranging. That's the kind of thing that I feel is really so important in moving people emotionally with music. Hopefully that's what this album will do, move people emotionally.”

“Marty Walsh has made a fine album, featuring some red-hot musicians beside his heartfelt guitar playing – the sounds he wrings from his guitars are strong, melodic and exciting.” - John Anthony Helliwell (Supertramp)

“Marty Walsh is an amazing guitarist and songwriter. I had the pleasure making a record with him called 'The World Is Watching' (the band was called The Key). We met in 1986 when he was on tour playing guitar with Supertramp for their 'Brother Where You Bound' record. My band Lodgic opened for them and so we hung out backstage and became fast friends and have been ever since. I'm very happy to see Marty going for it with his new record and was honored he asked me to be a part of it too!” - Billy Sherwood (YES/CIRCA:)

“Marty Walsh is one of the most soulful musicians I have known. His musicality shines through any band he has ever been in. This new solo CD reflects his funk, soul and rock roots. It's a must have for all.” - John “JR” Robinson (Rufus/Eric Clapton/Steve Winwood/Mike Oldfield)

“I have been good friends with the near legendary Marty Walsh since our Glendale/Burbank, California days. He was always known as the 'Boy Wonder' on the guitar back then. And still is today. If you're ever stuck for the next part of your song... don't worry, Marty's got it covered.” - Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy / Black Star Riders)

“Over the years I have had the good fortune to work with some of the greatest guitar players in the world. It runs the gamut. Rock, Funk, Jazz, Pop. There are a handful that can shred in all these fields. Marty is one of them! On 'The Total Plan' Marty went to 'The Shed', with a few friends, and came out with a real gem. It rocks, it inspires, it grooves, and Now is the Time, to check it out!” - Tommy Vicari (Grammy award winning engineer and producer)

In support of his new CD release Marty has been working with a videographer, trying to determine which songs would be good choices for music videos and how to approach that. He is also currently working on putting together the personnel for a live band. Although, since the record has so many different people on it, putting a band together that can play all of his music live is a bit of a challenge. The good news is that being in Boston and teaching at Berklee, Marty has access to some unbelievable young talented musicians that will most likely be the members of this group. Also his son Ian played some keyboards on the record, and wrote a few of the pieces with Marty, so he is kind of a cornerstone to the live band.

In conclusion, Marty has this to relay to his fans and listeners, “Just sit back, relax and enjoy......put this album on when you have people over. I do feel that it is the kind of record that you can put a set of headphones on and listen intently to, as I feel that it has a real 'flow' to it in terms of taking you on a bit of a journey from song to song. But it's also one that you can put on in the background and just let it be a 'feel good' record. Hopefully if people put this album on for friends in the background over casual conversation the question will be 'What is this music that's playing?' and then 'Where can I get it?'”

LIGHT MY FIRE: A CLASSIC ROCK SALUTE TO THE DOORS

First off readers let me say that I do not like cover bands, cover albums, tribute albums and compilation albums. I have always felt they should be considered a separate genre and that they usually do a disservice to the original composers and bands. After listening to “A Classic Rock Salute To The Doors” though I am rethinking those thoughts. It is hard to cover every song here, there are 16 of their greatest hits, so I will try to give an over view of what I think is important. I will leave the final decision up to you as to how good it really is after you listen to it.

I was fortunate enough to see ‘The Doors’, 3 times, once at Cobo Hall in Detroit. They were a very unassuming band with almost no equipment. They used no special effects, fireworks, light shows or anything other than themselves, a few instruments and only a couple amps and speakers. The stage was pretty empty even by the standards of the 1960’s. What they lacked in equipment they made up by how tight and cohesive they were as a group when they were all in sync with each other and halfway sober. Jim Morrison usually took all eyes off the other 3 members but make no mistake that without them Jim Morrison would probably have become another undiscovered rock star.

Several of the guests on this album most likely knew ‘The Doors’ back in the day and are by all rights are ‘Superstars’ themselves. More than 42 of rock's greatest classic ‘Superstars’ showed up to play on this album. That’s a lot of “tribute” to any person or group and shows the love and respect they all had for ‘The Doors’ and their music. By my count there are at least 7 tribute albums out there for ‘The Doors’ but from where I sit this is probably the only one that should matter.

The biggest names in classic rock
gather together to pay homage
to the original riders on the storm,
The Doors!

The 16 well done tracks on this album are:

1. L.A. Woman - Jimi Jamison (Survivor), Ted Turner (Wishbone Ash) & Patrick Moraz (Moody Blues)

2. Love Me Two Times - Lou Gramm (Foreigner), Thijs van Leer (Focus) & Larry Coryell

3. Roadhouse Blues - Leslie West (Mountain), Brian Auger & Rod Piazza

4. Love Her Madly - Mark Stein (Vanilla Fudge) & Mick Box (Uriah Heep)

5. Riders On The Storm - Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow), Tony Kaye (Yes) & Steve Cropper (Booker T. & The M.G. s)

6. The Crystal Ship - Edgar Winter & Chris Spedding

7. Intro (People Are Strange) - Keith Emerson, Jeff Skunk Baxter & Joel Druckman (John Fahey)

8. People Are Strange - David Johansen (NY Dolls) & Billy Sherwood (Yes)

9. Touch Me - Robert Gordon, Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Steve Morse & Nik Turner (Hawkwind)

10. The Soft Parade - Graham Bonnet (Rainbow), Christopher North (Ambrosia) & Steve Hillage (Gong)

11. Hello, I Love You - Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep) & Roye Albrighton (Nektar)

12. Spanish Caravan - Eric Martin (Mr. Big) & Elliot Easton (The Cars)

13. Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar) - Todd Rundgren & Geoff Downes (Yes / Asia) & Zoot Horn Rollo (Captain Beefheart)

14. Break On Through (To The Other Side) - Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad) & Chick Churchill (Ten Years After)

15. Light My Fire - Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), Rick Wakeman (Yes) & Steve Howe (Yes)

16. The End - Pat Travers & Jimmy Greenspoon (Three Dog Night)

The album starts off with one of my favorites, ‘LA Woman’. From their 6th, album released in 1971, ‘LA Woman’. Jami Jamison, Ted Turner and Patrick Moraz do an admirable job of covering this tune. The guitar work, Ted Turner I am assuming, gives an old favorite a different twist.

I could go into much more detail on more songs off this album but since space is limited I will just give some observations here. This is certainly an album to help introduce anyone who has never heard ‘The Doors’ before to their greatness. After listening to it I guarantee they will hunger for the original music just to hear who these 4 guys, who cut out a slice of rock history for themselves, really were.

The guitar work on every song is clean, precise and shredded, something that Robby Kriegers “fingerstyle” guitar playing did not allow him to do. Not that Robby Krieger wasn't great, he was just not as technical since “fingerstyle“ playing is better suited to Flamenco and Folk Music. It’s probably the most notable difference in all of the tunes here.

Conspicuous by its absence here though is ‘The Unknown Soldier’ which could have easily replaced the version of ‘People Are Strange’ with David Johansen and Billy Sherwood. This is the only song I really felt did not belong among the 16 cuts on this album.

The closing song is my all time favorite and appropriately is, ‘The End’, featuring Pat Travers and Jimmy Greenspoon. Listening to this version gave me goose bumps and almost brought tears to my eyes. The depth is so different but not nearly as dark as the original. I think you'll find yourself listening to it over and over again!

Dutch Rock Legends FOCUS Release New Album 'Golden Oldies' On April 14, 2014

London, UK – Dutch rock legends Focus will be releasing their eagerly awaited new album on April 14, 2014. Titled 'Golden Oldies', the new release features re-recordings of classic Focus tracks, featuring “Hocus Pocus”, “Sylvia”, “House Of The King” and others. Focus has recently embarked on a world tour in support of their forthcoming album.

Thijs Van Leer explains, “Producing 'Golden Oldies' is tricky. Both the die hard Fans and the 2014 Focus-members were having doubts about this enterprise, because we didn't know if the recent recordings would match the original material, notwithstanding the fact that we had so much fun in doing the session, quick, romantic, virtuoso, full of funny moments & profoundness; But... the final mix turns out to be fantastic and we all are proud to release this album at our earliest convenience!! Halleluya!!!”

With their unique brand of progressive rock, Focus manifested themselves at the start of the '70s as the most successful and appreciated of all the Dutch pop-rock exports. Fronted by founding member Thijs Van Leer, and best known for their hits “Hocus Pocus”, “House of The King” and “Sylvia”, the iconic Dutch music masters are back with their new album, which is guaranteed to please their legions of fans!

After a comeback in the early 2000's, the band has gone from strength to strength, with their last studio album 'Focus X' still receiving considerable support from music fans across multiple genres. Along with Thijs van Leer on vocals, flute and keyboards, back on the drums is beloved Focus drummer Pierre van der Linden, who joined the group on their second album 'Moving Waves' in 1972.

Internationally renowned for his rhythmic skills, Pierre remains a defining factor in the Focus sound. Bassist Bobby Jacobs, who comes from a well-acclaimed Dutch musical family and guitarist Menno Gootjes, who participated in Focus at an earlier stage, complete the band's current line-up.

Most recently, the group's 1972 worldwide hit “Hocus Pocus” was featured in the major motion picture 'Robocop' starring Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton.

There has been much talk about this show, did they do it or did they not? Even the remaining band members don’t agree. There is no documentative proof (SRB were not billed as support). Although many shows on this tour, did, have an opening act. We ourselves were advised at the time of our SRB Box set that a tape we were given and advised to include was in fact a recording of the near legendary, if not short, MASONIC Temple gig. We later found out that it was in fact NOT a recording of one whole concert let alone The Masonic Hall, with the exception of ‘City Slang’, which is from the show.

This is a good quality Bootleg recording; we tracked down the individuals responsible for recording this show who confirmed where it was and when. Upon listening one can tell immediately this is a larger venue than any other live SRB recording.

So after much speculation and heated discussion this is it all five songs ..The Complete Show !
